Vocab First · Advanced English vocabulary
Vocab First is an iPhone app for English speakers who want a richer vocabulary and more precise expression. It puts a short word lesson before selected distracting apps: learn a word, recall it later, then unlock.
Subscription required after any eligible introductory trial.
How it works
Use a habit you already have as a cue to learn. Choose your apps, allow Screen Time access, and set your unlock duration.
Select the apps you tend to open without thinking. Vocab First uses Apple Screen Time to place a learning step before access.
Study a word with its meaning, pronunciation, and examples. On a later visit, answer a recall question about the previous word, then learn the next one.
Complete the word step to unlock all your selected apps for the duration you chose. When the window ends, the learning step applies again.
Main features
Practice words for more precise expression and stronger reading comprehension, one short lesson at a time.
Explore definitions, pronunciation, example sentences, and parts of speech to understand how a word is used.
Recall questions bring back a previous word, so your practice includes remembering as well as reading.
Choose which apps to protect and how long an unlock lasts. Change your selection as your routine changes.
Set a pause after an incorrect answer if you want an extra moment to focus. A wrong answer does not permanently block progress.
Track learned words, activity streaks, and recall accuracy. Return to your word library to revisit what you have learned.

Good to know
Vocab First focuses on advanced English vocabulary for people who already speak English. It helps you practice word meanings and recall as part of your phone routine. It is not a beginner English course.
You choose the apps to protect through Apple Screen Time. Completing the learning step opens a timed unlock window for your selected apps. Protection depends on Screen Time permission and iOS behavior.
